Bird life
With more than 900 known bird species, Southern Africa is one of the richest avifaunal areas in the world. Some of the species you are likely to see at Kansimba Game Lodge include mountain eagles, guinea fowls, partridges, hoopoo, hornbill, African parrots, mountain pigeons and doves. For bird lovers and the amateur and professional photographer, we also offer a number of hides at selected waterholes. |

Trails and hikes
Day walks and trails are aimed at discovering the unexpected beautiful bird life, bushmen paintings and different game species at various waterholes, from natural and man-made hides. Be sure to visit the bushmen paintings - they are one of our main attractions, and a well worth visit. A comprehensive library is available back at the lodge for a more in-depth study of the days findings.
Trips designed exclusively for the photographer are also available to guests on request. These could include evening, night or very early morning shots. Special game underground hides bring the photographer within a very short distance of game at waterholes.
After a hot day in the bush there is nothing more refreshing than a dip in our crystal clear swimming pool.
Our kitchen serves a variety of either traditional or local dishes, as well as salads, fresh fruits and home grown vegetablest. One of our specialities is the barbeque (also known as a braaivleis) - where fresh venison is prepared over an open fire. Dinner is directly served from the grill in the lapa (our outside dining room), which overlooks an illuminated water hole and the riverbed.
After dinner, relax in the bar where you can talk over the days overwhelming experiences. We stock a wide range of refreshments, from natural juices and soft drinks to renowned Namibian beers and the finest South African wines. |
